What the Rameshwaram Cafe is

The Rameshwaram Cafe (sometimes written Rameshwaram Café) serves vegetarian South Indian tiffin in the busy, fast "darshini" format that Bengaluru is known for. The menu leans on idli, vada, dosa, pongal, rice dishes and filter coffee, and the kitchen is known for using a lot of ghee.

The name honours Rameswaram, the town where Dr APJ Abdul Kalam was born. The official site claims more than 120 items on the menu, though it publishes dish names only and no prices.

The format is simple. You pay at a counter or kiosk, get a token, and collect food on steel plates. Most outlets have standing tables and only a little seating. Mumbai has a seated first floor, and the giant Bommasandra outlet on Hosur Road seats guests on the floor and serves on banana leaves.

Rameshwaram Cafe outlets at a glance

The official site lists seven India outlets and its menu page still says "9 Outlets, 2 Cities", which is out of date. Counting outlets reported open as of October 2026, there are 10:

The new Rameshwaram Cafe outlets

People searching for the new Rameshwaram Cafe usually mean one of the recent openings. The newest is the Bommasandra outlet on Hosur Road, a 90,000 sq ft temple-themed campus that was launched on 9 April 2026 and opened to the public on 16 April 2026. News reports describe floor seating on banana leaves and a claimed capacity of more than 10,000 people. No street address has been published by the brand.

Before that came Mumbai (Churchgate, 6 March 2026) and Pune (Viman Nagar, 19 December 2025). A Hennur Road outlet in Bengaluru is shown as "launching soon" on the official menu page, but no opening has been confirmed.

Dubai was announced in November 2024 and later said to be scheduled for 2026. As of October 2026 no Dubai opening has been confirmed. Chennai, Delhi NCR, Ahmedabad and Surat have only been mentioned as plans.

Timings

Hours differ by outlet and by source. Reported timings include:

  • Indiranagar flagship: 6:30 AM to 1 AM daily (listings)
  • Rajajinagar / Subramanyanagar: 5 AM to 1:30 AM (magicpin)
  • Pune Viman Nagar: 7 AM to 11:45 PM on District, but 6:30 AM to 1 AM in news coverage
  • Mumbai Churchgate: ground floor 5 AM to midnight and first floor 7 AM to 11 PM (Time Out); District shows 5 AM to 11:45 PM
  • Bommasandra: opened from 5 AM on its first public day; regular hours not published

On the reported Bengaluru board, breakfast items run from 6:30 to 11:30 AM and again from 4 PM, while lunch-only rice dishes are served from 12 to 3 PM. Check the outlet's current listing before a late-night trip.

Tips for your visit

  • Go early or late. Breakfast and weekends get very crowded. Reviewers suggest 6:30 to 7:30 AM or after 8 PM. Waits of 10 to 60 minutes have been reported in Pune.
  • Carry UPI or cash. Bengaluru listings show cash and UPI; Mumbai also takes cards. Reviewers say Pune kiosks do not accept credit cards.
  • Do not count on parking. Most outlets have none, and reviewers mention parking trouble in Churchgate.
  • No reservations. It is walk-in only. Takeaway is available, and Swiggy, Zomato and magicpin listings exist.
  • At Bommasandra you remove footwear and wash your feet before entering the dining area.
Delivery app prices are higher than counter prices, so if you are comparing, compare like with like.

Who runs it

The cafe was founded by Raghavendra Rao, a mechanical engineering graduate who is co-founder and CEO, and Divya Raghavendra Rao, a chartered accountant and IIM Ahmedabad postgraduate who is co-founder and MD. They are a married couple. Raghavendra Rao earlier sold idlis and dosas from a pushcart at Kumara Park in Bengaluru.

News reports put revenue at Rs 17.8 crore in FY25, up from Rs 11 crore. Read the full story on the owner and founders page.

Key moments

On 1 March 2024 a low-intensity blast at the Brookefield outlet injured several people; no one was killed. The outlet reopened on 8 March 2024. Other news has included a May 2024 food-safety inspection in Hyderabad, after which the founders apologised, and the March 2026 removal of unauthorised extensions at the Pune outlet by the municipal corporation.

Franchise and fake websites

The brand's official franchise page says it is not offering franchises to anyone at present, and that it does not take deposits or sign franchisees through calls, agents or websites. Fake franchise offers have cost people real money. Read the franchise page before you respond to any offer.

Official channels

The brand's official website is therameshwaramcafe.org, and its Instagram handle is @therameshwaramcafe, linked from that site. The domain therameshwaramcafe.com is a parked placeholder and not the brand's site. The official contact page shows a listed number, +91 81519 99191, and an office in JP Nagar 2nd Phase, Bengaluru.
